What is the Well Completion Engineering?

1、Completion requirements

1) .The optimum connectivity conditions should be maintained between the oil and gas layer and the wellbore, and the damage to the oil and gas layer should be minimal;

2) .There should be as large a seepage area as possible between the oil and gas layer and the wellbore, and the resistance of oil and gas into the well should be minimal;

3) .Should be able to effectively seal oil, gas, water layer, to prevent gas or water channeling, to prevent mutual interference between layers;

4). It should be able to effectively control the sand production of the oil layer, prevent the collapse of the well wall, and ensure the long-term production of the oil well;

5) .Stratified treatment measures such as stratified water injection, gas injection, stratified fracturing and acidification should be available to facilitate artificial lifting and downhole operations;

6) .For heavy oil reservoirs, heavy oil production can meet the requirements of thermal recovery (main steam huff and puff and steam drive);

7). Conditions for sidetracking directional Wells and horizontal Wells in the later stage of oilfield development;

8). The process is as simple as possible and the cost is as low as possible;

2.Completion ways

1). perforating is divided into: casing perforating completion, liner perforating completion;

2) .Open-hole completion method;

3). Slotted Liner completion method;

4) .Gravel packing is divided into open hole gravel packing, casing gravel packing and pre-packed gravel screen.

3.Completion wellhead device

A well is composed of three parts from top to bottom: wellhead device, completion string and bottom hole structure. The wellhead device mainly includescasing head, tubing head and oil (gas) tree. The main function of the wellhead device is to hang downhole tubing string and casing string, seal tubing, casing and the annular space between two layers of casing to control oil and gas well production, reinjection (steam injection, gas injection, water injection, acidizing, fracturing and chemical injection, etc.) and the key equipment for safe production. Completion string mainly includes tubing, casing and downhole tools combined according to certain functions. Running the completion string to bring the producer or injection well into normal production is the final step in the completion process. The type of well (production well, gas well, water injection well, steam injection well, gas injection well) is different, and the completion string is different. Even if they are production Wells, the production methods are different, and the completion string is different.

The current oil production methods mainly include spontaneous injection oil production and artificial lifting (rod pump, hydraulic piston pump, electric submersible pump, gas lift) oil production. The bottom-hole structure is an organic combination of tools and strings connected to the bottom end of the completion string and matching the completion method.
